Next Stop Atlas

About Next Stop Atlas

What it is

Next Stop Atlas is a travel explorer for everyone: a map of the world, with facts, food, sights, cities, short films and journeys for each country and continent. Journeys show estimated costs, with their sources.

Kids mode is for young explorers. Tully the turtle reads everything aloud, the buttons are bigger, the words are simpler and planning screens are left out.

Where it comes from

  • Facts, cities, food and sights are drawn from Wikipedia and Wikivoyage articles, licensed CC BY-SA 4.0. Each item names its article.
  • Country areas come from Wikipedia's list of countries and dependencies by area, which cites the CIA World Factbook and national statistics.
  • Journey costs cite a named source and the date it was checked. They are estimates, not live prices.
  • Maps are from Natural Earth (public domain).
  • Flags are from flag-icons (MIT).
  • Exchange rates are the European Central Bank's, served by Frankfurter.
  • Short films are YouTube videos, played through YouTube's privacy-enhanced embed. Nothing loads from YouTube until someone presses play.
  • Type is Fraunces, Lexend, Fredoka and Andika, under the SIL Open Font License.
  • Chat answers about a place come from Meta Llama models on Cloudflare Workers AI. Built with Llama.

Licences and notices

Prices are estimates and advice changes. Check current prices, and the official government travel advice for your destination, before you go.
